The invention relates to the technical field of reservoir evaporation prevention, in particular to a telescopic floating type reservoir evaporation prevention device and a using method thereof.The telescopic floating type reservoir evaporation prevention device comprises a left end rod piece assembly and a right end rod piece assembly, and the two ends of the right end rod piece assembly are inserted into the two ends of the left end rod piece assembly respectively; the method comprises the steps of buoy assembly, rod piece connection, shading component assembly, shading area adjustment and underwater operation. The reservoir water quality pollution risk is small; by adopting the design of replacing surfaces with points, the contact area between the device and the water surface is reduced, and the pollution risk of the device to the water quality of the reservoir is reduced; the method is more suitable for northwest arid regions with large day and night temperature difference; a stainless steel material used in the device has high temperature resistance and severe cold resistance, so that the service life is prolonged; quick assembly and disassembly can be realized, so that transportation and construction are facilitated; the device can be disassembled into four parts, namely a rod piece, a shading device, an overwater buoy and a connecting piece, and the device is transported to a site and then assembled.
