Systems, computer-readable media, and methods for improving launch time of an autonomous drone are disclosed. An autonomous drone including an off-state and an off-state is disclosed. The off-state is as if the autonomous drone is off for a user of the autonomous drone, but the off-state maintains some states of the autonomous drone, e.g., the operating system is loaded into memory. The autonomous drone enters a powered-off state from a powered-off state in which all or substantially all of the power is powered off based on a timeout or a power level of the battery falling below a threshold level. The OFF state reduces the start time of the autonomous drone compared to the OFF state. The time reduction is typically less than ten seconds, but this time is beneficial for situations where the user wishes the autonomous drone to perform photography immediately.
