The invention provides an underwater transportation system which comprises a transportation vehicle, a transportation cylinder, a traction mechanism and two oppositely-arranged guide rails, the two guide rails are arranged underwater, the transportation vehicle is arranged on the two guide rails, a cantilever is arranged at the top of the transportation vehicle, the transportation cylinder is connected with the cantilever, the traction mechanism comprises a winding drum and two traction ropes, and the winding drum is connected with the traction mechanism. The two traction ropes are wound on the winding drum and are respectively connected with the front end and the rear end of the transport vehicle; wherein the winding directions of the two pulling ropes on the winding drum are opposite. According to the underwater transportation system, the two steel wire ropes are wound on the winding drum in the opposite directions, so that when the winding drum rotates, the two steel wire ropes can move in the opposite directions to drive the transportation vehicle to move, the transportation vehicle can be driven to reciprocate only through one winding drum, the structure of the traction mechanism is simplified, and the mechanical failure rate of the underwater transportation system is reduced; and the stability of underwater transportation is improved.
