One embodiment of the present disclosure is a method for operating a liquefied gas transport ship provided with: a cargo tank for storing liquefied gas; a fixed ballast region located in a central region including the center of the hull in the front-rear direction; a front ballast region located forward of the central region; and a rear ballast region located rearward of the central region, in which a ballast body is loaded in the fixed ballast region, the front ballast region, and the rear ballast region when no liquefied gas is stored in the cargo tank, and in which the ballast body is loaded in the fixed ballast region, the front ballast region, and the rear ballast region when full liquefied gas is stored in the cargo tank. The weight of the pressure carrier in at least one of the front ballast region and the rear ballast region is smaller than that in a no-load state, and the weight of the pressure carrier in the fixed ballast region is the same as that in a no-load state.
