The ballast water power generation system comprises a communicating pipe, a propeller, a power generator and a shut-off valve, the communicating pipe is arranged on a first wall plate and a second wall plate between a left ballast tank and a right ballast tank in a penetrating mode, and the communicating pipe is used for communicating the left ballast tank with the right ballast tank; the propeller is arranged in the communicating pipe, and the rotating axis of the propeller is perpendicular to the cross section of the communicating pipe; the propeller is connected with the generator; the shut-off valve is arranged on the communicating pipe and used for shutting off the communicating pipe. The ship can fully utilize kinetic energy and potential energy generated by flowing of ballast water to generate electricity in the sailing process, and energy consumption of a power supply system of the ship is reduced.
