The present disclosure provides prediction of operator input to a steering element. A system may include a computer having a processor coupled to a memory that stores instructions executable by the processor to capture an image of an operator positioned in a steering position. The instructions may additionally be used to determine a level of confidence that output data from a torque sensor represents torque applied to a steering element by an operator based on parameters extracted from the captured image. The instructions may additionally be used to actuate a component in the vehicle based on the confidence level.
