The present disclosure provides dynamic compensation for transparent head-up displays for holographic effects. The present disclosure provides an apparatus and method for compensating for a head-up display (HUD) for holographic effects introduced by a holographic display screen. A holographic display screen is disposed in a glass such as a window of a vehicle. The holographic display screen is illuminated by light projected by the projector. The light is modulated in accordance with an array of first pixel intensity values defining an image that communicates information to an operator of the vehicle. A first location within the eye box is received from an eye tracking device. In response to receiving the first eye box position, the projector is controlled to modulate the light projected by the projector based on the eye box position to compensate for an image diffracted into the eye box from the hologram.
