The invention relates to a vehicle guidance system for at least partially automated parking of a motor vehicle into a transverse parking space delimited by a starting object and an ending object. The vehicle guidance system is arranged to determine the length of the lateral parking space between the starting object and the ending object. The vehicle guidance system is further configured to orient the motor vehicle with respect to the starting object or with respect to the ending object as a function of the determined length for a parking maneuver in the forward direction into the transverse parking space.
