The application relates to range prediction of a vehicle, in particular to a computer system comprising processing circuitry configured to: receive a start location and a planned destination location of an electric vehicle of a vehicle type, the vehicle comprising an electrical energy storage system; estimating energy consumption and variance for at least one route between a starting location and a destination location of the vehicle type based on reference energy consumption vehicle data collected from an auxiliary vehicle; calculating a confidence interval of the estimated energy consumption and variance at a predetermined confidence level; determining a current energy level in the electrical energy storage system; in response to the current energy level being below a confidence interval upper limit, controlling the vehicle according to a first mode including a first route between the starting location and the destination location; and in response to the current energy level exceeding or being equal to the confidence interval upper limit, controlling the vehicle according to a second mode including a second route between the starting location and the destination location.
