A computer-implemented method for controlling a vehicle power system is provided. Specifically, the invention relates to a computer system (400) and a method for controlling an electrical power system (130) of a vehicle (100). The power system includes a fuel cell system (110) and an energy storage system (120) including one or more cells. The method comprises:-predicting an upcoming driving event associated with a start time and a duration, the driving event being an event in which the vehicle is expected to operate under a load condition; -determining a preferred operating condition of the fuel cell system during the predicted upcoming driving event based on the load condition and the duration; and-controlling the electrical power system by performing a preparatory action associated with the electrical power system according to the determined operating conditions of the fuel system prior to the start time of the predicted upcoming driving event.
