The gas detection device is used for being installed at a sounding pipe of an oiling ship and comprises a floating device, the floating device can float on the surface of liquid and is provided with a communication hole, and one end of the communication hole is communicated with the outside; one end of the hose is connected with the floating device, and the hose is communicated with the other end of the communicating hole; a gas inlet of the portable detector is connected with the other end of the hose, and the portable detector is used for detecting gas. According to the gas detection device provided by the invention, under the condition that pipelines and valves are not added, sampling can be carried out by placing the floating device in the sounding pipe, detection is completed through the portable detector, the gas detection device is convenient to use and low in cost, and the installation space on a ship is optimized.
