The invention discloses a system for widening the voltage range of a low-voltage direct-current charger and a control method, relates to the technical field of voltage widening of direct-current chargers, and solves the technical problem that the output voltage of a direct-current charger in the prior art cannot meet the charging requirement of a new energy automobile battery system. The system comprises a low-voltage charger, a battery system and a voltage widening device, wherein the output of the low-voltage charger is connected with the input of the voltage widening device, and the output of the voltage widening device is connected with the input of the battery system; the voltage widening device is in communication connection with the low-voltage charger and the battery system; the voltage broadening device is used for adjusting the output voltage of the low-voltage charger to the voltage meeting the charging requirement of the battery system; the voltage widening device comprises a control unit, and a switch unit, a boost unit, a first communication unit and a second communication unit which are connected with the control unit. Through the voltage widening device, the output voltage of the low-voltage charger can be widened to meet the charging demand voltage of the existing new energy automobile battery system.
