The invention provides an active return control method and device of an electric power steering system, a vehicle and a medium, and belongs to the technical field of vehicle control. The method comprises the steps that under the condition that the vehicle is in a return state, a current return characteristic angle is determined according to the current vehicle speed; according to the size relation between the initial turning angle of the steering wheel and the current returning characteristic angle during returning of the vehicle, the returning control state of the vehicle is determined; and according to the return control state of the vehicle, the current return control parameters corresponding to the current vehicle speed are used for return control. According to the method, the return control state of the vehicle can be accurately judged, so that accurate return control can be carried out based on the return state of the vehicle at any speed. Moreover, when the return control is carried out, the control parameters are determined according to the current vehicle speed, and the influence of the vehicle speed on the return performance is considered, so that the accurate return control can be realized at different vehicle speeds. Therefore, active return-to-center control with low cost and high accuracy is realized.
