The invention relates to a brake-by-wire method and system which are applied to the technical field of brake-by-wire, and the method comprises the steps: when the system is normally powered on, setting a change making completion mark of a motor to be uncompleted, detecting whether a fault exists, and if not, detecting whether a pedal is in a powered-on state; if yes, entering a pedal power-on braking mode; if not, whether a braking request exists or not and whether the mechanical zero point is detected or not are detected; whether a braking request exists or not, if detection is completed, a normal brake-by-wire mode is entered; and if the braking request exists and the detection is not completed, entering a line control braking mode in which the change is not completed, and interrupting the execution of the mechanical zero point detection of the servo cylinder piston. And if the braking request does not exist and detection is not completed, servo cylinder piston mechanical zero point detection is executed, and when detection is completed, the motor zero finding completion mark is set to be completed. If the system is not powered off, returning to detect whether a fault exists or not; and if the power is off, ending. And the output of braking force is preferentially ensured, and power-on change making is smoothly completed.
