The invention relates to a brake system with redundant components. The brake system includes a power transmission unit having a first electric motor. An isolation/bleed control valve arrangement is associated with each of the first and second pairs of wheel brakes. At least two pump pistons are provided, each pump piston being associated with at least one wheel brake. The at least two pump pistons are driven by a second electric motor to selectively provide pressurized hydraulic fluid to an isolation/bleed control valve arrangement of the associated at least one wheel brake in at least a standby braking mode. A two-channel electronic control unit is provided for controlling the first electric motor. The dual-channel electronic control unit comprises a first electronic control unit channel and a second electronic control unit channel. A single channel electronic control unit is provided for controlling the second electric motor.
