An automated private public transport system comprising a plurality of vehicles (6) operating by optical guidance following a colored strip (10), each vehicle comprising an inertial navigator (1) capable of managing all parameters relating to the movement of the vehicles (6), i.e. The point of departure, direction, acceleration, duration, and continuous variations of these different parameters, the processing of the aforementioned data allows the on-board computer (2) to calculate and determine and store the path of the vehicle, the path data reproducing a series of points of the path, i.e. A computer virtual image (20) of a colored strip (10) of the path traveled. Thus, the in-vehicle computer (2) continues to follow its path with the computer virtual image (20) if the colored strip (10) is no longer visible.
