The invention relates to a method for replacing a first rope of a multi-rope friction hoist, which comprises the following steps of: hoisting a main cage to a position above a wellhead, penetrating a new rope through a guide device, and binding the new rope on an old rope; the auxiliary cage is lifted, and the new rope is driven by the old rope to sequentially pass through the lower head sheave, the elevator roller and the upper head sheave to reach a wellhead; unbinding the new rope from the old rope, and fixing the new rope on the steel beam; the main cage is lifted, a main suspension device of the main cage is lifted to a well mouth, and the rope head of the new rope fixed to the steel beam is fixed to the old rope; the main cage is lowered, every time the main cage is lowered by a certain distance, the tensioning mechanism tensions each new rope, the main cage is lowered to the well bottom, and after the auxiliary cage is lifted to the well mouth, the elevator stops running; and the new rope is tensioned at the auxiliary cage, the old rope is dismantled from the auxiliary suspension device of the auxiliary cage, the new rope is wound and bound on the auxiliary suspension device, the old rope is recycled, and replacement of the first rope is completed. Therefore, the rope changing efficiency and safety are improved, and the construction cost is reduced.
