The invention relates to an electric vehicle which carries a storage battery and travels with electricity as driving force, and a method for controlling charging of the storage battery of the electric vehicle. The electric vehicle includes the storage battery, a power conversion device, a motor, a socket, a rotation angle sensor, and a control device. The control device is configured to control the charging pile so as to output a predetermined charging current when the rotation angle of the motor is a non-generation torque rotation angle at which torque is not generated in the motor when the charging current is supplied to the neutral point of the motor. The control device is configured to control the charging pile so as to output a charging current smaller than a predetermined charging current when the rotation angle of the motor does not generate a torque rotation angle.
