A rubber composition for tires, which contains 5-90 parts by mass (inclusive) of a hydrophilic fumed silica and 1.5-30 parts by mass (inclusive) of a silane coupling agent per 100 parts by mass of a diene rubber. A method for producing a master batch, which comprises a step for kneading a diene rubber, a hydrophilic fumed silica, and a silane coupling agent using a kneading machine.
