The invention provides an elevator hoist and an oil leakage detection device. Oil leakage is quantitatively detected before oil flowing out of a bearing of an elevator hoist (1) adheres to a brake disc (11). This elevator hoist (1) is provided with: a pair of bearings fixed to a bearing block (5); a rotating shaft (4) rotatably supported by the pair of bearings; a sheave (3) fixed around the axis of the rotating shaft (4) so as to rotate integrally with the rotating shaft (4); a brake disc (11) fixed to one side of the sheave (3) in the axial direction; and a friction measurement unit (13) that measures friction force by bringing a friction measurement member into contact with a first contact surface when the sheave (3) rotates, the first contact surface being a side surface on one side in the axial direction of the sheave (3) excluding a portion to which the brake disc (11) is fixed, or an exposed surface of the rotating shaft (4) between the pair of bearings, the side surface on one side in the axial direction of the sheave (3), and the first contact surface being a first contact surface.
