The invention discloses a battery system capable of automatically balancing charging and discharging, which comprises a plurality of single batteries and control units, the single batteries are connected with the control units in a one-to-one correspondence manner, and the control units are connected through a CAN (Controller Area Network) bus; the control unit sends an ID signal of the control unit to the system, receives ID signals sent by other control units in the system, and establishes communication with each control unit in the system; the control unit obtains the voltage of the single battery corresponding to the control unit, periodically sends the voltage information of the single battery to the system, and monitors the voltage of the single battery sent by other control units in the system; the control unit obtains the charging and discharging state of the system based on the charging and discharging state of the corresponding single battery; and on the basis of the voltage of the corresponding single battery and the voltage of other single batteries in the system, the on-off states of the discharging MOS tube and the charging MOS tube of the corresponding single battery are adjusted. According to the invention, the difference between the actual endurance mileage and the theoretical endurance mileage of the vehicle is reduced.
