The method comprises the following steps: acquiring a first distance between an own vehicle and a target speed limit sign in a current lane identified by the own vehicle; acquiring a second distance of the own vehicle relative to each reference vehicle in the current lane through an own vehicle sensor, and acquiring a third distance of the own vehicle relative to each reference vehicle in the current lane from the server; determining a target distance between the own vehicle and each reference vehicle in the current lane based on the second distance and the third distance; and determining whether the target speed limit sign is a road speed limit sign based on the first distance and the target distance. Through the second distance obtained by the self-vehicle sensor and the third distance obtained from the server, the more accurate target distance between the self-vehicle and each reference vehicle can be comprehensively determined, and the target speed limit sign is more accurately judged based on the target distance and the first distance between the self-vehicle and the target speed limit sign.
