The invention relates to a high-reliability holding claw type on-orbit filling mechanism and method. The filling mechanism comprises a driving end and a driven end. Before capturing, the M holding claws at the driving end are in an open state; when the driven end is within the capturing range of the driving end, the driving mechanism drives the moving plate to move downwards, the moving plate drags the holding claws to move downwards in a linear mode through the holding claw shaft system, the holding claws are gradually folded and move downwards under the interaction of the cam pair to capture the driven end, then the holding claws continue to be folded to be in the vertical state, then the holding claws start to move vertically, and the driven end is captured. The driven end is pressed on the top plate; and then the holding claw continues to vertically move downwards to enable the driving valve body to be in butt joint with the driven valve body at the driven end, and filling is completed.
