A parallel shaft type rear motor electric drive axle belongs to the technical field of electric vehicles and comprises a motor, a shaft A, a shaft B, a shaft C and a gear shifting mechanism. An output shaft of the motor is connected with one end of a shaft A, and the other end of the shaft A is provided with a shaft A gear; a shaft B high-gear gear and a shaft B low-gear gear are arranged at the two ends of the shaft B respectively, and a shaft C high-gear gear and a shaft C low-gear gear are rotationally arranged on the shaft C in a sleeving mode; the shaft A gear is meshed with a shaft B high-gear gear, the shaft B high-gear gear is meshed with a shaft C high-gear gear, and a shaft B low-gear gear is meshed with a shaft C low-gear gear; the gear shifting mechanism can connect a shaft C high-gear gear with the shaft C or connect a shaft C low-gear gear with the shaft C; and the shaft C is connected with a hub reducing mechanism through a planetary reducing mechanism and a differential mechanism assembly.
