A foldable headrest remote actuator is improved by providing a spring compensator mounted on a tube to assist movement between a stowed position and a working position. The spring compensator is concentrically inserted into a hollow tube supporting the adjustable headrest to enhance force or compensate for the loss of force typically withstood due to use in cold weather or aging of materials. A spring compensator is positioned inside the headrest support tube to assist in pulling the cable upward through the seat when the seat and the headrest return from the stowed position to the passenger seating position. A spring compensator inside the headrest support tube enables use of a smaller torsion spring in the headrest and reduces stress on components in the mechanism.
