The invention discloses a freight cableway traction cable braiding method, belongs to the field of steel wire rope connection, and aims to realize diameter-invariable braiding. One of the two sections of traction ropes to be knitted is a rope A, and the other one is a rope B; the method comprises the steps that firstly, all strands of the braided end of the first rope are detached; the rope head of the first rope and the rope head of the second rope are oppositely combined together, and the pitch is made to be consistent with the pitch of the first rope or the second rope; secondly, the uncut rope strands of the first rope are woven and inserted into a second rope; weaving and inserting the uncut rope strands of the second rope into the first rope; thirdly, a rope core in the second rope is driven out, and the crossed ends of the rope strands of the first rope and the second rope are pressed into the rope core position of the second rope for filling; the rope core in the first rope is driven out, and the crossed ends of the rope strands of the second rope and the first rope are pressed into the rope core position of the first rope for filling. The rope core is driven out through the knitting intersection point, the rope strand intersection point is pressed in for filling, it is ensured that the diameter of the knitting section is kept consistent with that of an original rope, diameter-invariable knitting is achieved, and the knitting intersection point is tightly combined with an original traction rope after knitting.
