The subject of the invention is a method and system for managing the mileage capacity of a battery electric vehicle (BEV). A method for managing mileage capacity of a BEV having a TRU includes obtaining real-time vehicle data via an ECU of the BEV, and determining a ratio of consumption of energy stored in an energy storage unit and an efficiency of a component of the BEV based on the real-time vehicle data. The method further includes triggering an operating mode of the BEV based on the determined ratio of energy consumption and efficiency, and thereafter controlling a cooling and heating capacity of the TRU based on the triggered operating mode. The method includes optimizing a ratio of energy consumption based on a controlled cooling and heating capacity of the TRU, and then notifying a user of the BEV of a message indicating activation of a current operating mode and an energy saving mode of the BEV via one of the HMI, the mobile application, or the visual indicator.
