The invention provides a control system and method for redundancy switching of a master motor and a slave motor of an electric locomotive. The control system comprises a master motor driving controller, a slave motor driving controller and a locomotive control module. The main motor driving controller is used for monitoring the communication state and the operation state of a motor main motor frequency converter; the slave motor driving controller is used for monitoring the communication state and the operation state of the slave motor frequency converter of the electric locomotive; the locomotive control module is used for determining whether the main motor frequency converter and the slave motor frequency converter fail or not according to the communication state and the operation state of the main motor frequency converter and the communication state and the operation state of the slave motor frequency converter, generating a control strategy if the main motor frequency converter and/or the slave motor frequency converter fail, and sending the control strategy to the locomotive control module. And switching the master motor and the slave motor of the motor based on the control strategy. According to the technical scheme provided by the invention, when the main motor has an irreversible fault, the slave motor can be quickly switched to the main motor, so that the locomotive runs normally.
