The invention relates to a method for checking a vehicle (1) on a site (11a, 11b) using a management system (V), the management system (V) being designed to coordinate the vehicle (1) on the site (11a, 11b) and to control a checking vehicle (20), the checking vehicle (20) being equipped with a sensor system having at least one sensor, the method comprising at least the following steps: ascertaining whether a vehicle (1) on the site (11a, 11b) is intended to depart; generating a control command and transmitting the control command to the inspection vehicle (20) such that the inspection vehicle (20) moves along the inspection path towards the parking space (10); detecting the surroundings (U) around the inspection vehicle (20) at the parking space (10) by means of a sensor system (25) in the inspection vehicle (20) while the detection range (27) of the sensor (26) is aligned with the underlying area (6) below the vehicle (1) and/or with the vehicle (1); and ascertaining the presence of an obstacle cause (G) that impedes the departure (A) of the vehicle (1) on the basis of the sensor signal (S2).
