The invention relates to an electric vehicle charging system and an operating method thereof. An embodiment electric vehicle charging system includes: an actuator configured to maintain or change a vertical position, a horizontal position, or an angle of a power receiver disposed in a vehicle; and a position controller configured to determine a relative position and a relative angle of the power receiver with respect to a power transmitter provided outside the vehicle through the sensor, and perform alignment control between the power transmitter and the power receiver through the actuator based on the relative position and the relative angle of the power receiver.
