According to the invention, two consecutive rows (6) of chevron-shaped blocks of the tread (2) are separated by chevron-shaped transverse cuts (52) extending continuously from one edge to the other of the tread such that the leading or trailing edge (41) of the blocks (4) lie on the same line (L), the central line (Lt) of each herringbone transverse cut-out (52) consists of two branches (Lt1, Lt2), each branch (Lt1, Lt2) forming an average angle (B1, B2) with the axial direction (YY ') of at least 15 DEG and at most 55 DEG.
