A symmetrical boost DC/DC converter is proposed having a DC input voltage source with a DC negative voltage input and a DC positive voltage input, a DC negative voltage output and a DC positive voltage output, at least four switches and two chokes, one of which is connected to the DC negative voltage input and to two adjacent switches, the other choke is connected to the DC positive voltage input and to the other two adjacent switches, such that a symmetric topology with separate DC voltage inputs is obtained. Furthermore, an input capacitor arranged between the voltage inputs, a first symmetric capacitor connected to the DC negative voltage input and to the DC negative voltage output, and a second symmetric capacitor connected to the DC positive voltage input and to the DC positive voltage output are provided.
