The invention provides a subsurface buoy for ocean observation. A discharging opening communicated with the balance weight cavity is formed in the bottom of the balance weight shell, and the opening and closing assembly is arranged on the balance weight shell and used for controlling opening and closing of the discharging opening. The initial state of the opening and closing assembly enables the discharge port to be in an open state, and the opening and closing assembly is configured to have the tendency of keeping or restoring to the initial state. And the releasing mechanism is used for locking the opening and closing assembly when the opening and closing assembly closes the discharging opening so as to prevent the opening and closing assembly from being recovered to the initial state, and unlocking the opening and closing assembly when the detection mechanism is recovered. The detection mechanism needs to float out of the water surface for recovery, and the release mechanism enables the opening and closing assembly to open the discharging port when the detection mechanism floats upwards for recovery, so that the weight of the balance weight shell is reduced, the balance weight shell floats upwards along with the detection mechanism for recovery, waste of the balance weight mechanism is avoided, and the effect of solving the cost is achieved.
