A stepping type vertical elevator solves the problem that an existing elevator cannot meet the requirement for cross-layer transfer in a factory. The device comprises a main machine frame, and a lifting machine frame vertically sliding in a reciprocating mode is arranged in the main machine frame. A plurality of stepping units are arranged on the main machine frame, a plurality of conveying units are arranged on the lifting machine frame, and the stepping units and the conveying units are matched to form a mechanism for carrying out stepping inclined conveying on material boxes. Compared with the prior art, the lifting mechanism has the advantages that the mode that the crank drives the first connecting rod is adopted, reciprocating sliding of the lifting rack is achieved, the overall structure is simple and practical, and the production cost can be saved to the maximum extent; the occupied area of the whole equipment is equal to or even smaller than that of a goods elevator, continuous cross-layer transfer of large-batch material boxes can be achieved, the transfer efficiency is high, the number of adopted electronic components is relatively small, later maintenance is easy and convenient, and the maintenance cost is low.
