The invention discloses a climbing safety control method for an electric aerial work platform. The climbing safety control method comprises the steps that the climbing angle alpha and the downhill acceleration a of the electric aerial work platform are obtained; the maximum permissible downhill acceleration a1 of the electric aerial work platform at the climbing angle alpha is calculated according to the motor braking force, and the maximum permissible downhill acceleration a2 of the electric aerial work platform at the climbing angle alpha is calculated according to the motor braking force and the speed reducer braking force; when a is smaller than a1, motor braking is executed, when a is larger than or equal to a1 and smaller than a2, motor braking and speed reducer braking are executed, and when a is larger than or equal to a2, the electric aerial work platform stops accelerating, and motor braking and speed reducer braking are executed. According to the invention, the problems of slope slipping and motor stall when the electric aerial work platform climbs a slope or works on the slope are solved.
