The invention discloses a capturing and docking mechanism and a docking method, and belongs to the field of spacecraft capturing and docking equipment. An outer cylinder of a twisting and shearing structure of the mechanism is arranged on an inner cylinder in a sleeving manner, and a first end of the inner cylinder extends out; two twisting and shearing rods are oppositely arranged at the first end of the inner cylinder, and the other two twisting and shearing rods are oppositely arranged at the first end of the outer cylinder; the first driving assembly is arranged at the second end of the inner column body and is configured to drive the inner column body and the outer cylinder to rotate relatively; a first butt joint of the butt joint structure is arranged at the first end of the inner column body, the twisting and shearing structure is arranged on a first device to be in butt joint, and a second butt joint is arranged on a second device to be in butt joint. The two groups of telescopic structures are symmetrically arranged on the second to-be-butted device, and each telescopic structure comprises a guide assembly, a sliding assembly and a second driving assembly; the guide assembly is arranged on the second to-be-butted device; the sliding assembly is inserted into the guiding assembly and can slide along the guiding assembly under the driving of the second driving assembly. The device is large in tolerance, high in universality and simple in structure.
