The invention provides an overheating protection method and device, and the method comprises the steps: obtaining a real-time water temperature value of an engine in a vehicle; determining a target water temperature range to which the real-time water temperature value of the engine belongs based on a plurality of preset different water temperature ranges; wherein the working states, corresponding to the different water temperature ranges, of the engine are different; acquiring battery state information of a power battery in the vehicle; and adjusting the working power of the engine and/or the power battery in the vehicle within the target water temperature range based on the battery state information of the power battery.
