The invention provides an electric vehicle and a charging method applied to the electric vehicle, the electric vehicle comprises a power battery, a load, a charging socket and a controller, one end of the charging socket is connected with the power battery and the load through a high-voltage positive and negative direct current bus, and the other end of the charging socket is used for being connected with a charging gun of a power supply device. Under the condition that the charging socket is connected with the charging gun, the controller is used for controlling the power battery to switch on a loop for supplying power to the X capacitor connected in parallel at two ends of the power battery; in response to the fact that the voltage at the two ends of the X capacitor reaches a preset value, the controller is used for controlling the loop for the power battery to supply power to the X capacitor to be disconnected, controlling the loop for the charging socket to charge the power battery to be disconnected, controlling the loop for the charging socket to supply power to the load to be connected and sending a message that the charging of the electric vehicle is ready to the power supply device.
