The invention relates to a motor train unit charger control method which is applied to a motor train unit charger, the charger comprises a Vienna rectifier and a full-bridge converter which are electrically connected, and the method comprises a first working mode judgment step, a second working mode judgment step and a third working mode judgment step. The control method is used for controlling the charger to be switched to a normal working mode, a fault working mode, a shutdown mode or a derating working mode, and further comprises a normal working mode control step and a fault working mode control step. The motor train unit charger is controlled to adopt multiple working modes to ensure that the charger can maintain work to the maximum extent before a train returns to a warehouse for maintenance, the usability is high, and the battery type can be intelligently identified to ensure the universality.
