The three-section type bionic caterpillar comprises a head body section, a bent body section and a tail body section, grabbing steering engines are arranged on the head body section and the tail body section, bionic claws are connected to the grabbing steering engines to fix the head and the tail, and the head body section is connected with the bent body section through a head connecting support. The bent body section is formed by combining a plurality of bent bodies, the bent bodies are matched with the hollow sphere in the middle to form a ball joint to achieve rotation, all the bent bodies and the hollow sphere are fixed through a tensioning rope penetrating through a middle hole, four side control lines stretch out and draw back to achieve bending control, and the tail body section is connected with the bent body section through a tail connecting support. Through cooperative movement of the head body section, the tail body section and the bent body section, crawling, obstacle avoidance and obstacle crossing of the bionic caterpillar are achieved.
