The invention discloses a charging pile system based on flywheel energy storage and a control method thereof, and the system comprises a switch which is used for controlling the access of a commercial power grid; the charging unit is used for charging the electric vehicle; the flywheel energy storage unit is used for converting electric energy into mechanical energy and storing the mechanical energy; the photovoltaic power generation unit is used for generating power through solar energy; the switching unit is respectively connected with the switch, the charging unit, the flywheel energy storage unit and the photovoltaic power generation unit and is used for controlling the current trend; the central controller is respectively connected with the switch, the switching unit, the flywheel energy storage unit and the photovoltaic power generation unit, and is used for controlling the operation states of the switch, the switching unit, the flywheel energy storage unit and the photovoltaic power generation unit; and the user equipment is connected with the central controller and is used for inputting a control instruction. The system can effectively reduce the problem of local overload of the power grid.
