The invention belongs to the technical field of battery management systems, and particularly relates to a method and system for enabling a power battery to be compatible with multiple vehicle models, the multiple vehicle models are matched with the provided power battery, and the method comprises the steps that a vehicle model parameter configuration table is stored in a battery vehicle model database according to vehicle model needs, the vehicle model parameter configuration table comprises universal battery control parameters of various vehicle models and different control strategies caused by different vehicle models; the power battery communicates with a vehicle through the BMS to identify the vehicle type; and the BMS requests a vehicle model parameter configuration table corresponding to the vehicle from a battery vehicle model database according to the identified vehicle model, and battery control parameters and control strategies are adjusted according to the requirements of the vehicle model parameter configuration table. The vehicle model is identified through communication between the BMS management system and the vehicle, then the battery control parameters are adjusted according to the requirements of the vehicle model, various requirements of the vehicle for the power battery are met, and one type of power battery can meet the use requirements of multiple types of vehicles.
