The battery diagnosis apparatus includes: a battery monitor for detecting a voltage of each of a plurality of battery cells included in a battery module; and a control circuit for determining a latest value of a first voltage deviation representing a difference between a voltage behavior of each battery cell from a start time point of the sleep event to a relaxation time point thereof and an average voltage behavior of the plurality of battery cells. For each battery cell, the control circuit determines a newest value of the second voltage deviation by applying a smoothing algorithm to the newest value of the first voltage deviation, determines a newest value of a third voltage deviation representing a difference between the newest value of the first voltage deviation and the newest value of the second voltage deviation, determining a latest value of a fourth voltage deviation representing a difference between the latest value of the third voltage deviation and a previous value of the third voltage deviation, determining a latest value of the threshold deviation by using a time series dispersion of the fourth voltage deviation having a predetermined magnitude, and comparing the latest value of the third voltage deviation to the latest value of the threshold deviation to determine whether there is a micro-short in the corresponding battery cell.
