The present disclosure provides automatic adjustment of vehicle seats based on rear seat occupancy. The present disclosure generally relates to systems and methods for automatic adjustment of seats in a vehicle. In an exemplary method, a processor may evaluate a detector signal to determine an occupancy status of a second seat located behind a first seat in a vehicle. The processor may then perform a seat movement operation of the first seat based on the occupancy state of the second seat. The seat movement operation may involve moving the first seat rearward by a first distance based on the second seat not being occupied, or moving the first seat rearward by a second distance less than the first distance based on the second seat being occupied. The first seat may be moved rearward at a first movement speed or a second movement speed based on a factor such as an available spacing distance between the first seat and the second seat.
