The invention relates to the technical field of engineering machinery, and discloses an autonomous battery changing type loader and a battery changing method.The autonomous battery changing type loader comprises a frame body, a battery changing device, an electric box and an electric control system, the frame body comprises a front frame and a rear frame, the rear frame is hinged to the front frame, a mounting surface is formed on the rear frame, and the battery changing device is arranged on the mounting surface; the battery replacing device comprises a rack, a telescopic mechanism and a hoisting mechanism, the rack is detachably connected with the rear frame, the telescopic mechanism comprises a first driving part and a telescopic part, the first driving part is connected with the telescopic part and used for driving the telescopic part to telescopically move in the first direction, the hoisting mechanism comprises a second driving part and a connecting part, and the second driving part is arranged on the telescopic part and used for driving the telescopic part to telescopically move in the first direction. The second driving part drives the connecting part to move in the second direction, and the electric box is detachably connected with the connecting part. According to the new energy loading machine, the electric box can be directly and rapidly replaced on a work site, and time and labor cost can be saved.
