The purpose of the present invention is to provide a rope gripping device capable of performing a fastening operation from one direction without performing an operation from both sides of a gripping portion. This rope gripping device (8) grips a rope (1) by means of first gripping members (14B, 12) and second gripping members (14A, 13). The rope gripping device (8) has a fastening plate (15) in which a first threaded hole (23) is formed and the relative position with respect to the first gripping members (14B, 12) is fixed, and the second gripping members (14A, 13) are movably disposed between the first gripping members (14B, 12) and the fastening plate (15). A pressing bolt (18) is screwed into the first threaded hole (23) from the side of the fastening plate (15) opposite to the side on which the second clamping members (14A, 13) are disposed, and the second clamping members (14A, 13) are pressed against the first clamping members (14B, 12) by the pressing bolt (18).
