In order to improve the manufacturing of an aircraft, preferably to reduce the workload of re-tapping, the invention proposes a method for temporarily closing an opening in an aircraft part (10, 11) during the manufacturing process by providing a first part (10) having a first opening (14) and positioning a temporary closing member (16) inside the first opening (14). The temporary closure member (16) has an RFID tag (20) on which a unique identification is stored. In a later stage of the aircraft manufacturing process, the RFID tag (20) is scanned based on the identification using a scanning device. The temporary closure member (16) is removed from the first opening (14) and then replaced with a permanent member (22).
