The first braking device is designed to apply a friction braking torque to at least one wheel of the motor vehicle. The second braking device is designed to apply the regenerated braking torque to at least one wheel of the motor vehicle. The braking torque adjustment device includes an interface and a computing device. The interface receives information about a driving state of the motor vehicle. According to the invention, the calculation device determines a target value of the regenerative braking torque, the calculation device takes into account the received information about the driving state of the motor vehicle. Axle braking torques that can be transmitted to the ground via the respective drive axles of the motor vehicle and the power of the drive train of the respective driven axles of the motor vehicle are maximized, taking into account normal forces acting on the drive axles as a result of the pitch characteristics of the vehicle. The computing device is further designed to actuate the second brake device via the interface in such a way that the applied regenerative brake torque is adjusted to a setpoint value determined by the computing device.
