The invention relates to an elevator car (3) having a car floor (5) which is designed in a collapsible manner and which consists of two floor sections (8, 9) which are connected to each other by means of a pivot axis (S). The car floor (5) is placed in the elevator shaft (2) in an initial position in which it is folded together and then unfolded. After deployment, the car floor (5) is in the final position. The production of the elevator car (3) can now be completed, in which car side walls (6) and a car roof (7) are mounted on a fully expanded car floor (5).
