The purpose of the present invention is to suppress breakage of a welded joint between steel plates due to strain concentration in a welding heat-affected zone. Provided is a butt-welded joint formed using a steel plate which satisfies the standard following the Unified Standard of International Classification Society (IACS), and which has a total elongation of 1.40 times or more of the value of the total elongation specified by the Unified Standard, and which is characterized in that: the total elongation of the steel plate satisfies the standard following the Unified Standard of International Classification Society (IACS), and the total elongation of the steel plate does not exceed 1.40 times the value of the total elongation specified by the Unified Standard; when the plate thickness of the butt welded joint is t (mm), the width of the welding heat-affected zone is Lh (mm), the hardness of the welding heat-affected zone is Hh, the hardness of the base material part is Hb, and the hardness of the welded metal part is Hw, the following formulae (1)-(4) are satisfied when Hh/Hb is less than 0.97, and the following formulae (3)-(4) are satisfied when Hh/Hb is 0.97 or more. Lh < = (0.034 t + 0.510)/(1-Hh/Hb) 0.9 (1) Hh/Hb > = 0.70 (2) Hw/Hb > = 1.0 (3) 6 < = t < = 40 (4).
